A) REJESHA TABASAMU 1 – 5
WejaCBO members usually volunteer their time and limited resources in supporting vulnerable pupils in society. We actively participate in charity programs aimed at assisting individuals and communities in need. The charitable initiatives of WejaCBO also aim to unite caring individuals to make a positive impact in the society.
Since its launch in July 2022, WejaCBO has successfully conducted five (5) Rejesha Tabasamu activities to provide assistance to vulnerable students and members of community. These activities are focusing on improving the well-being of individuals and addressing their specific needs.
B) #UCHAGUZI-BILA-BALAA
The post-election period is a time of increased tension and potential violence as individuals and groups have differing views on the outcomes of the election. Pre and post-election related risk had been a concern in Kilifi County as a result of negative outcomes following the August 2022 general elections. The negative impacts include, but were not limited to, physical violence, emotional trauma to families of those whose relative and/or friends are killed or injured, and social division where people are marginalized on the basis of their ethnicity or religion. The overall outcome is that post-election violence directly and indirectly affects the economic activities as well as the well-being of the residents of Kilifi North and South, respectively.
WejaCBO, through Search for Common Ground-Kenya, successful implemented the #UchaguziBilaBalaa project, which was funded by the European Union-Kenya, to address and prevent post-election risks within Kilifi County. WejaCBO, in its mandate to fulfill the project objectives, engaged Kilifi residents through three (3) phases: Community Events or Dialogues – to discuss violence management, Social Media Engagements – to promote sharing of information and debunking misinformation and false narratives, and Community Football Tournaments – to promote cohesion and peaceful coexistence.
C) HUMAN CENTRED DESIGN – AGA KHAN FOUNDATION
The Aga Khan Foundation (AKF) is an independent, non-profit organization dedicated to international development, which harnesses human, financial, and technical resources to enhance opportunities and enhance the quality of life. Recently, AKF funded a poultry project undertaken by one of our executive members at WejaCBO. As the project neared its completion, the executive member decided to collaborate with WejaCBO to facilitate project management, resulting in significant improvements in production and ensuring its long-term sustainability.
