WejaCBO aims at fighting gender based violence (GBV) or violence against women, young boys and girls. Being a global pandemic, GBV has been affecting several victims in their lifetime within and outside Kilifi County. GBV can include intimate partner violence, sexual violence, child marriage, genital mutilation, forced abortion, forced sterilization, sexual harassments, physical, mental and economic harm. It can also include threats of violence, coercion and manipulation.
While boys and men do experience abuse, it is important to remember that the majority of victims are female and the majority of perpetrators of violence are boys and men. WejaCBO activities therefore, maximizes in;
- Reducing the risk of GBV for all persons of concern
- Ensuring all survivors of GBV and those at risks have adequate access to comprehensive support
- Promotion of economic, social and political empowerment of vulnerable group
- Supporting and expanding policies, programs and strategies that promote gender equality in social norms, attitudes and behaviors and that address the root causes of violence
